Meet Finni

Finni Porter Chambers (she/her) is a spatial designer and researcher with a background in socially engaged and regenerative methods. Based in Glasgow and from Liverpool.

As founder of Josafinni Studio, Finni explores how spatial design can support community, children and young people, mental health, disability, and neurodivergence through imaginative and participatory approaches.

My methodologies;

Participatory Design - working in direct collaboration with communities, using joyful and engaging arts workshops as the basis for exploration

Accessible design - I go beyond typical accessible design, and design for neurodivergent people, people with lived experience of mental health, people with learning disabilities and people with physical disabilities. I focus on the multisensory aspect of design ensuring a welcoming and accessible space for all.

Regenerative design practices - holistic sustainable design, where sustainability and the lifecycle of physical objects are considered and recycled materials are prioritised whilst also understanding the wider concept of  sustainability. How to build sustainable communities and engage with space with care for community, architecture, nature and beyond.

Place making - discovering what makes a community and its place, lets think about our towns and cities more that the buildings that are on them, but also about the way we interact with it. Looking at place making intersectionality knowing that women, people of colour and the global majority, LGBTQ+ and disabled people interact with numerous barriers across the built environment, from travel to accessing vital services.
